Since her character was killed off at the end of the penultimate season of The O.C., Mischa Barton has strung up several big screen projects due to be released in the last quarter of this year. Among her upcoming movies are Closing the Ring, Virgin Territory, Dont Fade Away and St. Trinians. She is also scheduled to appear in Finding t.A.T.u., Malice in Sunderland and Assassination of a High School President.
The former O.C. star is also the cover model for the August issue of Elle in the United Kingdom. The magazine also features an article on Bartons rise to popularity, reported party girl persona and relations to Hollywood bad girls like Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan.
"It is a persona. It's not me. I think, 'Who the hell is that girl?' I'm so low-key and chilled. But the media has created a fake 'Young Hollywood' where everyone hangs out together and everybody knows each other. It couldn't be further from the truth. I feel so, so different from those girls," Mischa Barton told Elle magazine.
The 21-year old actress also confessed to struggling with fame when she was catapulted to stardom after being cast on The O.C. at the tender age of 17.
"When I got there I didnt know anything about the business, and you dont make the best of friends. You make a few mistakes when youre that age and it took me a while to find the friends I needed, to be truly comfortableFame isnt that exciting to me. I dont think its something to be fighting for. I want a career. I dont get that thing of standing outside a famous restaurant, waiting to be photographed. I cant do that. Ive found a very happy place - I know what I want to do, and Im excited about the projects Im developing. Thats what Im trying to concentrate on," Barton continued.
Mischa Barton is clearly dead set on becoming a serious actress and not a mere celebrity. She is currently busy with her Shakespeare studies at the Royal Academy for Dramatic Art (RADA) in London.
